After more than a year of anticipation, the remarkably personal and emotionally powerful story of Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex comes to print. It will discuss the event in which he and his brother Prince William walked behind Princess Diana's coffin during her funeral procession in 1997. It will be launched concurrently in Spanish under the title In the Shadow, and will eventually be available in 16 languages.
Harry previously stated that he will contribute a share of the book's earnings to charity. According to a statement from Random House, which will publish the book in the United States, he will donate $1.5 million to Sentebale, the HIV/AIDS-focused organisation in southern Africa that he helped to establish in 2003. He will also contribute £300,000 to WellChild, a charity that helps children with impairments and their families.
Spare will be released about four months after Queen Elizabeth II's death and King Charles III's assumption to the throne. The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Harry was reconsidering its contents following the death of his grandmother. Vanity Fair reported last month that Charles was waiting for the book's release and the debut of Harry's Netflix documentary with his wife Meghan Markle before making any choices on their future relationship with the royals.
