In 1968, Stanford University Professor Paul R. Ehrlich and his wife, Anne Ehrlich, published The Population Bomb, a best-selling book. It predicted worldwide famine in the 1970s and 1980s as a result of overpopulation, as well as other severe socioeconomic changes, and called for quick population control.
